Student & Practitioner Stories

Reproductive literacy tends to arrive too late and too thin, one awkwardly delivered lesson that leaves young people with more questions than answers. This category is built around changing that starting point, focusing on what age-appropriate cycle education can look like for students and what educators need in order to teach it with confidence instead of discomfort. It considers how schools might approach menstrual health as a normal part of growing up rather than a subject confined to embarrassment, and what reproductive literacy actually requires beyond the basics of anatomy – body awareness, emotional context, and language that doesn’t shame. The broader thread running through it is advocacy: how conversations about cycle awareness can extend beyond individual classrooms into wider educational systems, and what it takes to shift a culture that still treats periods as something to whisper about. This is where the future of menstrual education gets considered most directly, through the lens of the young people who will inherit whatever understanding, or silence, comes before them, and the educators working to make sure that inheritance is a better one.
